Festivale Tasmania, Launceston Premier Food, Wine and Entertainment Festival , is a quality Launceston event might be just too expensive for many families. Early in 2018 we started a campaign to reduce or remove Festivale via Facebook our Facebook Page Make Festivale Free (now called Make Festivale Fair and out Facebook Group we continue our cause.
With Festivale Saturday Family Passes priced at $60 it prompts the question should the ticket cost for Festivale be reduced significantly or even have NO ENTRY FEE for certain times.
Our aim is to make Festivale tickets affordable so that the event is accessible to more Families. People can then just spend their money on Food and Refreshments and having a fun time.
When you contrast entry fees at the The Taste of Tasmania and Festivale the first thing you notice is that the Taste of Tasmania is FREE to enter for all but New Years Eve which leads to the question if Hobart can do it why can’t Launceston?
Who can afford to attend Festivale 2019?
With over 27% of Launceston residents living on less than $650 gross income per week and with only 52% having full time employment (ABS Data Launceston) people have to spend vary carefully and are denied the opportunity to experience the pleasure of Festivale due to the ticket price
